Today was Sophie's first day of school! She was soooo excited!!! Daddy got to take a day off from work and come with us. Sophie was such a big girl! She did not hesitate....as soon as the teacher opened the door, she walked right up to her, said hello, walked into the classroom and put her backpack in her cubby, and then walked right over to the puzzle table. And could have cared less if mommy and daddy were still there!!! Of course, we were right there with the cameras, kind of hanging on a little bit, but she really was fine. After doing this twice in two weeks, I have realized that it is definitely harder on the parents, then the children. In fact, we probably make it scary for them...saying things like, "are you ready for school", "are you a big girl now to stay a school by yourself", and "make sure you listen and be a good girl". All they care about is going to play and make friends!! Here is Sophie going to school....

We went through that room into the closet, which has a one-way window that we can watch Sophie's room through and she can't see us. Sophie was sitting at a little table with two other girls playing with playdoh (which she must have been loving, since we don't do playdoh very often at home!!). Then the whole class went and sat on the rug to sing a song. It was a very cute song about fish and sharks. Sophie was doing great, following right along!! Then, we went back out and waited by the door for class to be over. The teacher had all the kids sitting at a table waiting for their parents. Sophie was very happy to see us, but a little upset that school was over already! But she told us all about what she did and what she had for snack. In fact, the first thing she told me is "Mommy, I had bagels and grapes for snack." Without me even asking, I think I used to always ask Kayleigh that after school and Sophie was so excited to be able to me what she had after a year of having to listen to what fun snacks Kayleigh got to eat!
