Wendy and Charles at Our House!

During the week, Wendy and Charles drove down from LA to stay at our house for a few days. The girls had fun getting all their old baby toys out to prepare for Charles coming and as soon as they got here, they couldn't wait to show them everything....the toys for the baby, school work they had done, and all the Halloween decorations. Poor Wendy, I don't think she was able to sit down for the first 30 minutes!! We had lots of fun with them. We went to a Halloween Festival in our neighboorhood and soccer practice and the girls showed them theirs schools and classrooms. I loved having both of them here. Charles is the sweetest, happiest nephew!! And I love seeing Wendy as a mom....she is great!
PS....If I asked Sophie what her shirt said, she would say, "BOO! AHHHH!"

Charles in California!!!

Right after our Halloween Party, we drove straight up to LA to see Wendy, Mark, and Baby Charles. Mark was in town for work and we stayed the night up there with them. It was Uncle Paul's first time to meet Charles. The girls could not have been any more excited to see their baby cousin. Both girls are very good with him and Kayleigh, especially, had a good time being a big cousin. She loved reading him books and helping Wendy. Sophie hasn't quite figured out if she likes having someone smaller than her, but she thinks he is "sooo cuuute". He was so funny when we first got there. The girls still had on their costumes and we think that Charles couldn't figure out if they were kids or animals like Tip Top and Oliver!!

And if you are wondering what the red mark on Sophie's nose is....she fell on the stairs about two minutes before it was time to leave for the party. Blood everywhere! But the good news was that I didn't have to put much paint on her nose to make her look like a cat....it was already pink!!

Halloween Party

Paul's ship had it's annual Children's Halloween Party (lucky for us, the ship was actually in for the children to be able to attend!!). The girls both wanted to be cats this year. Kayleigh was a sophisticated cat and Sophie was a leopard cat. They had fun at the party. The engineer department puts together a really good haunted house and the RRFA (our family association, I'm the treasurer) had a cookie walk that the girls participated in over and over again while I put tattoos on all the little kids. Needless to say...they won a lot of cookies. I had to beg for their number not to be pulled anymore!!

Soccer!!

Here is Kayleigh at her first day of soccer practice. She was a little nervous, but she had a good time. Paul and I could not get over how grown up she looked in her soccer gear! Where did our little baby girl go?? She has 5 other kids on her team from her preschool class last year! And the coach is the dad of one of her friends. She is a very good player, when she forgets that there are people watching her! Sophie was a good little sister to come along and cheer her big sister on!

Silly, silly girls....

I was telling the girls a story in the car and they thought it was really funny. I took a bunch of pictures because they looked so cute being silly and laughing.

3-D!!

We took the girls to see Monster House. They really wanted to go. I tried to warn them that it would be a little scary, but that didn't change their minds. We got there and they handed us 3-D glasses! Didn't know it was a 3-D movie!! Things can look a little scarier in 3-D!! The girls liked it though.....after hiding in our laps for the first 15 minutes!

Pony Rides

We went with some friends of ours to a Children's Fair. The big hit was the pony rides. The girls were so excited and proud to be able to ride on the ponies "by themselves". Our friends have a two year old son, Liam. He was the smallest kid riding the biggest pony!!

Preschooler....

Today was Sophie's first day of school! She was soooo excited!!! Daddy got to take a day off from work and come with us. Sophie was such a big girl! She did not hesitate....as soon as the teacher opened the door, she walked right up to her, said hello, walked into the classroom and put her backpack in her cubby, and then walked right over to the puzzle table. And could have cared less if mommy and daddy were still there!!! Of course, we were right there with the cameras, kind of hanging on a little bit, but she really was fine. After doing this twice in two weeks, I have realized that it is definitely harder on the parents, then the children. In fact, we probably make it scary for them...saying things like, "are you ready for school", "are you a big girl now to stay a school by yourself", and "make sure you listen and be a good girl". All they care about is going to play and make friends!! Here is Sophie going to school....

When we got to the school to pick her up, there is a closet that connects to the room next door which happens to be Kayleigh's old room. We went through that room into the closet, which has a one-way window that we can watch Sophie's room through and she can't see us. Sophie was sitting at a little table with two other girls playing with playdoh (which she must have been loving, since we don't do playdoh very often at home!!). Then the whole class went and sat on the rug to sing a song. It was a very cute song about fish and sharks. Sophie was doing great, following right along!! Then, we went back out and waited by the door for class to be over. The teacher had all the kids sitting at a table waiting for their parents. Sophie was very happy to see us, but a little upset that school was over already! But she told us all about what she did and what she had for snack. In fact, the first thing she told me is "Mommy, I had bagels and grapes for snack." Without me even asking, I think I used to always ask Kayleigh that after school and Sophie was so excited to be able to me what she had after a year of having to listen to what fun snacks Kayleigh got to eat!

Picking up Kayleigh

Kayleigh had a good first day. She made some friends and loves her teacher. She got three gummy bears for being a good listener! And she told me funny things that her teacher said. Here are some pics from when I picked her up...
